A well-known Russian-language news site dedicated to cryptocurrencies, due to blocking by the Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Communications, is now inaccessible to the crypto community in Russia.
It happened on the last day of June. Trying to access the usual Bits.Media portal, users encountered a problem: it was blocked. As it turned out, the decision taken by the Saratov court served as the basis. The case was initiated on the basis of a lawsuit filed by the city prosecutor's office. The reason is still unknown, but the portal of the court that made such a decision contains information that Bits.Media on some tabs called for laundering profits that were obtained as a result of criminal actions. More detailed information is not available for public access. The editors of the BeInCrypto website said that they were unable to verify the information that led to the creation of a lawsuit by the prosecutor's office.
If you look at the departmental portal, you can see a note that access to Bits.Media is limited only to certain pages. However, the entire site has been blocked so far. Its creator Ivan Tikhonov provided information that the portal will challenge the court decision, which, in his opinion, has violations. We are talking about the following points: the company was not aware of the initiation of the case, and the court did not contact it regarding the explanation of the controversial material posted on the website. Ivan Tikhonov also has questions for the judge who considered the case, since she did this in the absence of the owners of the site to be blocked.
Officially, Tikhonov said that he considers the verdict passed to be wrong. The editors of the site could remove the controversial material if they were given such an opportunity, and the owners of the news portal would be aware of the fact of the proceedings.
It is worth noting that the Russian Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Communications had previously blocked this site, but then, thanks to the efforts of Bits.Media, the decision was canceled.
